Tom Givon, GIV’s VP of Marketing and Solutions, presented on a panel discussion today titled “Designing and Maintaining Roads for a Safer Tomorrow.” During the session, Givon discussed several key examples of how GIV’s technology contributes to road safety:
* Reduced Accident Risk on Toll Roads:
On Israel’s largest toll road, a GIV-RMS (road management system) report analyzed data on accident locations and causes. The BI report identified an anomaly in the distribution of accidents, in a newly designed highway, particularly during the hot summer months. The report concluded that a significant factor in these accidents was driving one and a half hours without stopping at speeds of 120-140 km, with partially inflated tires, at 40-45 degrees Celsius, which ruined the tires. This insight led the transportation ministry to launch the “An Inflated Tire Saves Lives” campaign, raising awareness to the importance of air pressure.
* Enhanced Safety Inspections with Drones:
By integrating GIV’s system for managing bridges and road structures with advanced drones for engineering inspections on Ayalon Highways, engineers no longer need to perform risky high-altitude inspections, eliminating the need for full traffic closures. Drone inspections also allow for maximum accuracy and repeated monitoring, ensuring the safety of road structures for all passengers and users.
