GIV Solutions’ Case Study

The “Red Line” light rail has been operational since August 2023 and traverses some of the busiest areas in the Gush Dan District, serving approximately 234,000 passengers daily and around 70 million passengers annually. The line runs every 6 minutes, spanning 24 km, half of which is in an underground tunnel. The Red Line features 34 stations across 5 cities, including 10 underground stations. This ambitious project was realized through the collaboration of numerous international and Israeli companies.

To ensure optimal operation, an Operational Control Center (OCC) was established, comprising several key centers, including a Maintenance Control Center (MCC) for managing routine and emergency maintenance activities. GIV-RAIL™ by GIV Solutions was selected as the central maintenance management system (MMIS) for the MCC. Since its implementation, all project stakeholders have relied on GIV-RAIL™ for maintenance management, logistics, SLA, and KPI calculations.

Project Challenges: Bridging Between Companies, Language Barriers, and Inconsistent Data

  1. The project involved numerous contractors and companies from around the world working together for the first time, creating language and communication gaps.
  2. Massive amounts of data had to be collected, organized, and loaded, including equipment, structures, rail segments, assets, fault codes (SLA), work plans, preventive maintenance plans, inventory details, and IT communication.
  3. Significant gaps between the raw data from contractors and the uniform loading format for the MMIS had to be bridged.

The Chosen Solution:

GIV-RAIL™ was implemented as the project’s MMIS, consolidating all maintenance and operational processes into a unified, accessible format for all contractors and companies.

The Result: Data-Driven, Proactive, and Efficient Maintenance Management

  1. Organized and clear data documentation for all project stakeholders.
  2. Development of optimal maintenance work plans with contractors, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal cost.
  3. Thorough characterization of the relationship between work plans and assets for routine and preventive maintenance, promoting efficient work by filtering out irrelevant data.
  4. Automated execution of complex management and control processes, ensuring goal achievement according to predefined KPIs.
